Kathleen Witherspoon Sturgill, age 100 of Crumpler, died Sunday, December 16, 2018 at her home. Mrs. Sturgill was born June 26, 1918 in Ashe County to the late Romulus and Melinda Burkett Witherspoon. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Joe and sisters, Madge Witherspoon, Annie Lopu Wallace, Mary Virginia Witherspoon and Ray Bowers and brother, Millard Witherspoon.

Mrs. Sturgill was a member of Friendship Baptist Church and taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. She loved to quilt, sew, crochet, cook, play rook and work in her flowers. Kathleen got her GED at the age of 65.

She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at Friendship Baptist Church by Rev. Dave Adams and Rev.

Chris Goodman. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 – 7 PM Tuesday, Dec.

18th at Badger Funeral Home.
