Obituary of Kathy Cumpston Kathy A. Cumpston (nee Schmitt) Age 58, a lifetime Joliet, IL resident, passed away suddenly Thursday, July 19, 2018, at her home. She was born March 7, 1960, to the late Robert G. and Marjorie (nee Dillon) Schmitt. Kathy was a graduate of St. Johns Grade School in 1974 and St. Francis Academy with the class of 1978.

Kathy is survived by her beloved husband, James “Jim” Cumpston; loving children, Christopher (Elizabeth) Brown and Shauna L. Cumpston; siblings, Robert R. Schmitt, Thomas (Cindy) Schmitt, Donna (Russell) Meiferdt and James Schmitt; one sister-in-law, Kathleen Kruk; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her brothers, William (the late Mary Kay) Schmitt and Fred Kruk. Kathy was employed as an office manager for Anderson and Shah Roofing for 25 years, and previously employed at the currency exchange for 18 years.

One of her favorite pastimes was traveling, especially to Las Vegas. She also enjoyed playing cards, going to the movies, attending her childrens sporting events and spending time with family. Words cannot describe how much she will be missed.

All friends and relatives are invited to gather for a Memorial Visitation on Tuesday July 24, 2018 at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds. , Joliet, from 4 – 8 p.m. A Memorial Service for Kathy will begin at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday July 25, 2018 at the funeral home. As it was Kathy’s request, cremation rites have been accorded.
