She spent her entire life serving and helping others. In her work career, she served as a valued executive secretary or assistant for several of Shelbyville’s most distinguished business leaders. She especially loved accounting.
In her ministry, she served tirelessly for animal welfare. She rescued and cared for critters of all shapes and sizes. She was a founder and charter member of Shelbyville Bedford County Humane Society.

She received numerous awards for her service including: The Professional Woman’s Luncheon Volunteer of the Year, SBCCC Good Citizen Award, SBCCC Deery Eakin Volunteer of the Year, SBCCC Franklin Yates Lifetime Achievement Award, and more.

In her school years, she was a proud team member of Shelbyville Golden Eaglettes basketball, and was salutatorian of the Class of 1949.
