Kenneth’s Obituary Kenneth C. “Clyde” Sargent, 70, of Havre passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 23, 2019 at Peace Hospice in Great Falls surrounded by his children. A Viewing will be held on Wednesday, February 27, 2019 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Holland and Bonine Funeral Chapel. Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, February 28, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Fifth Avenue Christian Church; burial with military honors to follow at Highland Cemetery.

Memorials in Clyde’s name may be made to Peace Hospice of Great Falls, any veteran’s organization or the charity of the donor’s choice. hollandbonine.com . Clyde was born on August 27, 1948 in Havre to Jolene (Jackson) and Kenneth Mac Sargent. He was raised in Havre and graduated from Havre High School in 1966.

After graduation Clyde enlisted in the Army and served for two years overseas in Vietnam. Upon his return home he was awarded the Silver Star on September 4, 1968, along with various other medals including a Bronze Star and two Purple Hearts. Clyde was the second highest decorated soldier from Montana to serve in Vietnam.

Clyde hired on with the Great Northern Railroad in 1969 as a laborer and then in 1971 started work as a carman for BNSF, working up to foreman, where he worked until his retirement in 2003. In 1971 Kenneth Clyde Sargent married Janice Elaine Belcourt in Havre, where the couple raised their seven children. Clyde and Janice were married for 41 years until Janice’s passing on September 18, 2012.

Clyde married Marilyn Marquart on June 6, 2018 and the couple resided in Havre until his passing. Clyde enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping, and later at the cabin with Marilyn in Beaver Creek. He was athletic and played softball and bowled, along with water skiing, in his younger years.

Clyde took great pride in his yard and could often be found outside working in his garden. He was a hard worker and showed his children that having drive and a strong work ethic would take you far. Clyde loved his family and cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren.

He had a great sense of humor and had many inside jokes spanning over decades with friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth Mac and Jolene; and wife, Janice Elaine. Clyde is survived by his wife, Marilyn of Havre; sons, Shawn Sargent of Havre and Scott (Carissa) Sargent of Big Sandy; daughters, Robin (Scott) Schwarzbach of Big Sandy, Tina (Lance) Cook of Big Sandy, Wendy (Ryan) Murphy of Helena, Sandra (Randy) Solomon of Havre, and Kari (Jack Murray) Sargent of Kennewick, WA; 11 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; brothers, Rodney (Susan) Sargent of Billings, and Randy (Susan) Sargent of Waxahachie, TX; sister, Carolyn (Tom) Patrick of Havre; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
