Kenneth Earl Charles , January 08, 1947 — June 29, 2018

Kenneth Earl Charles, 71 of Traverse City and formerly of Petoskey and Brimley, died June 29, 2018 in Traverse City. Kenneth was born on January 8, 1947 in Brimley, MI, son of the late Donald and Catherine (Collins) Charles and was raised in Brimley, graduating from Brimley High school with the Class of 1966. Kenneth went to work at the Cherry Capitol Airport in Traverse City before moving to Petoskey and working at the Reus Residential Care Community as a Maintenance Technician.

Kenneth enjoyed his job at the Reus Residential Care Community and the residents enjoyed having him and his sense of humor around, as well as his dog Barney that he frequently brought to work with him. He continued to work there until they closed in the early 2000’s. Kenneth enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping and was a true outdoorsman.

He had a great sense of humor, always has a smile on his face and would do anything just to make you laugh. He was a man that would show unconditional love and will be greatly missed by all those that knew him. He is survived by 5 siblings, Roberta (Robert) Chakarian of Wurster, MA, Francis Jerome (Kay) Charles of Lansing, MI, Lajoice (Maryann) Charles of Brimley, MI, George Charles of Frederic, MI, and Helen (Randy) Heck of Brimley, MI; honorary niece and close friend, Alice Alma and her family of Traverse City; and by many nieces and nephews.

Kenneth was preceded in death by 7 siblings, Robert, Annabelle, Jane, Beverly, Deborah, Donald “Fred” Jr., and Catherine. Services celebrating Kenneth’s life will be held on July 6th at 11am at the Stone Funeral Home of Petoskey, MI. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10am until the time of service and Kenneth will be laid to rest in Greenwood Cemetery in Petoskey.
