Kenneth H. “Blackie” Blackburn, Jr., age 69, was called home to his Lord and Savior on Monday, September 3, 2018, at Mercy Hospital & Trauma Center. He was born in Viroqua on June 3, 1949; the son of Kenneth, Sr. and Mildred (Chadwick) Blackburn. He proudly served his country in the United States Army.

Kenneth married Anne (Meier) Blackburn on July 2, 1988 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Janesville. He worked for General Motors for 39 years until his retirement in 2006. Ken loved sharing pictures of his magnificent flowers that blossomed throughout the year.

Ken’s yard was like a paradise for birds, that he also enjoyed as an avid bird enthusiast. Kenneth is survived by his loving wife, Anne; 2 daughters, Lisa (Derek) Schyvinck and Stacey (Todd) Mengelt; 3 step children, Mary Blaser, Rick Schoengarth, and Barb Dannenmeier; 11 grandchildren, Luke Chellevold, Josh Chellevold, Amanda (Eric) Dreyer, Aaron Blackburn, Andrew Schoengarth, Adam Blaser, Allison Blackburn, Kristen Schoengarth, Ashlyn Schyvinck, Anna Schyvinck, Abby Mengelt; 3 siblings: Lois (Odean) Dahl, Donald “John” (Doris) Blackburn, and Donna Vix,, and many other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Judy Jothen, Robert Blackburn, and David Blackburn; daughter in law, Janet Schoengarth; son in law, Bruce Dannenmeier.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 8, 2018, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church with Pastor James Janke officiating. Military Honors and Inurnment will be at Milton Lawns Memorial Park Mausoleum. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at Church.

Memorial donations can be made to the National Kidney Foundation or to St. Matthew Lutheran Church. Ken’s family would like to express their gratitude and thanks to the staff of Mercy Hospice and to Pastor James Janke for his friendship and the time he spent with Ken. …and also a special thank you to our neighbors, Kirk and Rita Stubbe for all of their help and support.
