BROOKLYN-Kenneth L. “Ken” “Leo” Kaether, age 78, of Brooklyn, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 27, 2018 at Agrace HospiceCare after a long courageous battle with liver cancer. He was born on May 24, 1940, in Madison, the son of Albert and Gladys (Austin) Kaether.

Ken married Sue Wardle on August 16,1963. He loved to fish and spend time outdoors tending to his flowers. Ken liked to listen to country music and watch western movies.

He especially enjoyed spending time with his family. Ken is survived by his wife, Sue; children, Kenneth (Beth Towey) Kaether II, Albert “Joe” (Jessica Jonas) Kaether, Cynthia “Cindy” (Derek) Hefty, Christine “Bugsy” (Scott) LaCourse, and John (Shari) Kaether; ten grandchildren, Michael LaCourse, Jamie (Dustin) Hefty-Stoltz, Brett (Jessica Lopez) Hefty, Darrien Ploessl, Gabby LaCourse, Brek Kaether, Macy LaCourse, Max Kaether, Seth Kaether, and Leo Kaether; five sisters, Rose McGaw, Alberta “Bertie” (Norman) Harried, Carol (Sonny) LaFlash, Barbara “Bobbi” Kaether, and Susan Houston; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother-in-law, Rich McGaw.

A Celebration of Ken’s life will be held at GUNDERSON OREGON FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 1150 Park St, Oregon, at 12 Noon, on Thursday Nov. 8, 2018, with Pastor Rebecca Ninke presiding. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday.
