Kenneth L. Mayer, of the Town of Pendleton, NY, passed away on Monday, September 17, 2018 at his home under the care of his family and Niagara Hospice. He was born in Lockport, NY, on February 5, 1947, the son of H. Audrey [Purtell] Mayer and the late Thomas Mayer. Mr. Mayer graduated from Starpoint where he held several track and field records.

He served with the US Army during the Vietnam War. Mr. Mayer was a machine operator with Smurfit-Stone Container for the past 28 years. He was a talented and accomplished woodworker and an avid sportsman.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 39 years Susan E. [Chadwick] Mayer, three sons K. Glenn (Peggy) Mayer, Gary (Sarah) Funkhouser and Andrew Mayer, a daughter Sara (Ryan) Holmer, five grandchildren Alexander (Britaney), Maximilian (Sierra), Nathan, Caitlynn and Liam, one great granddaughter Emilia and another great grandchild on the way, a brother Thomas (Deborah) Mayer, two sisters, his twin Kathy Mayer and Debra (Martin) Perilli and his former wife Robin (Gary) Funkhouser. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and his dogs Emma, Walter and Athena. His family will be present on Thursday from 4-7 PM at the RHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 5893 Hoover Road, SANBORN, NY, where funeral services will be held at 7:00 PM, with the Rev.

Robert Franke officiating followed by military honors. Flowers are gratefully declined. Memorials may be made in his name to the Pendleton Center United Methodist Church or to Niagara Hospice.
