Obituary for Kevin Joseph Boldt Kevin Joseph Boldt passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, May 27, 2018. Kevin was born on March 9, 1994 in Portland, Oregon to Todd D. and Mary Ann (Habiger) Boldt (December 2000). Kevin attended Bauder Elementary, Saint Joseph’s Catholic School, Webber Junior High and Rocky Mountain High School.
Throughout his life he was active in sports, excelling in soccer, football, baseball, and track. In 2001, he found his true love and started playing inline hockey at OD’s Sports Crossing in Fort Collins. Throughout the years, Kevin and team mates traveled the state and country competing in hockey tournaments.
He won the speedskating skills competition at a national hockey tournament in Philadelphia in 2009. He was selected to the AAU Junior Olympics team and played for Team USA in California. His passion for hockey culminated in being a member of the OD’s Daredevils team who in 2011 won a National Championship in Florida.
At Rocky Mountain High School, Kevin had a passion for math and foreign languages. He was intrigued and curious on how things worked, always pondering and asking why. He transitioned to ice hockey and was member of the Rocky Hockey Club.
He also was a member of the golf team. After graduating from RMHS in 2012, Kevin began working for the City of Fort Collins Utilities Department at the Michigan Ditch on Cameron Pass. He truly treasured working in the mountains and with the fine people who guided him for a few years.
He enjoyed the restaurant business and was working at the Thai Pepper and Crown Pub both in Fort Collins. He attended Colorado State University where he played on the CSU club inline hockey team. Kevin also attended Front Range Community College.
At both institutions his thirst for knowledge and understanding were evident in the wide and extensive range of courses taken. His interests/hobbies were wide and divergent and included: Fishing for trout, pheasant hunting, snowboarding, golf, card and board games, reading the bible and classic literature, attending music concerts at the Aggie and other venues, playing the drums, and attempting to play the guitar. Kevin was known and will be remembered for his positive attitude, contagious laugh, infectious smile, insatiable curiosity, intense focus and desire to learn.
Kevin cherished the special bond of being with family and friends. “Heavy Kevy’ a nickname earned shortly after birth, was honest, genuine, funny, kind, and thoughtful. He was compassionate and generous to those less fortunate, even when he didn’t have much to give.
Although now is a difficult time for family and those who knew him, the why has been answered, our beloved Kevin Joseph, he of pure and golden heart is at peace. Kevin is survived by his father, Todd Boldt of Fort Collins. He is also survived by older brother Kyle Boldt of Chicago, IL, younger brother Matthew Boldt, younger sisters Kara Boldt and Allison Boldt of Fort Collins.
Aunt Sandra Whitmer (Boldt) and Uncle Larry Whitmer of East Moline, IL. Kevin also had and nurtured a special and binding relationship with family members, Jennifer Ivans (Whittenberg), Kelsey Williams (Whittenberg), Lauren Petaja (Whittenberg), and Nick Whittenberg all in Northern Colorado and longtime family friend Scott Wood of Fort Collins. Kevin was preceeded in passing by his Mother, Mary Ann Boldt, and both grandparents Theodore J. and Vernetta (Ptacek) Boldt of Moline, IL.
, as well as Thomas A. and Nancy K. Habiger (Kretschmer) of Pueblo, Colorado. A Visitation of friends and family will be held at Allnutt Funeral Service in Fort Collins on Thursday, May 31, 2018 from 6pm – 8pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church at 2:00 pm on Friday June 1, 2018, followed by a reception at St. Joseph’s.
