LaDell’s Obituary LaDell Ardis Tornberg peacefully passed to her life’s reward surrounded by her loving family on Feb. 13, 2019 at the age of 87. Born Jan.

8, 1932 to Anna and Martin Miller, she was the youngest of three sisters. A popular and smart, dark-haired beauty, she was the Beresford Homecoming Queen in 1949. On Feb.

2, 1951 she married Gordon Tornberg and that union of 68 years produced seven children, 19 grandchildren, and 29 great-grandchildren. All of those years were spent farming south of Beresford. A wife, mother, aunt, family farm organizer, quilter, cookie baker, Sunny Side Club member, and Twin Lakes Happy Camper, perhaps her favorite title was the one she held for the last forty years: Grandmother.

Grandma “Dell” was also affectionately called Grandma Butta (a loving family nickname based on one of her firmly held convictions: “Everything made with love…. and butta”. She is loved by her husband, Gordon, and her seven children, Mike (Ann) Tornberg, Beresford and their daughters Marie (Mike) Moeller, and Michelle (Jim) Andrews; Steve (Kit) Tornberg, Harrisburg and their daughters, Emilie (James) Smithback, Katie (Justin) Reilly, and Elle (Paul) Anderson; Connie and Paul’s children Jake (Sara) Stonefield, Heidi (Greg) Faehnrich; Bruce Tornberg, Beresford and his sons, Gabe (Leah) Tornberg and Tucker Tornberg; Susie (Gene) McTavish, Rochester, MN and their daughters Jill McTavish, Lisa (Brandon) Rouse, and Chrissy McTavish; and Marlene (Steve) Gannon, Harrisburg and their children, Nick Gannon, Heidi (Jason) Mitchell, and Aymee (Danny) Dyck; and Randy’s children Brittny, Tanner, Sadie and Josie Tornberg.

LaDell is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews, and her extended family of Tornberg brothers and sisters, in-laws, many cousins and friends. LaDell had the strength of faith which helped her face the greatest of all life’s challenges: being preceded in death by two of her own children. LaDell has now joined her oldest daughter, Connie (Tornberg) Stonefield, son-in-law, Paul Stonefield and her youngest son, Randy Tornberg.

Also, preceeding her in death are her parents Anna and Martin, and her two sisters, Loreen (Miller) Johnson and Marilyn (Miller) Hustrulid. Visitation with the family present will be Sunday, Feb. 17 from 5-7PM with the prayer service at 7PM.

Funeral services will be Monday, Feb. 18 at 10AM at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Beresford. Memorials may be directed to the “Emmanuel Lutheran-Mission Fund” or “Connie Stonefield SDSU Nursing Scholarship”.
