Lamar Dean Garland was born on June 3, 1966, in Galveston, Texas. He transitioned to eternity with his Lord on January 8, 2019, in Plano, Texas, at age 52. Lamar graduated from high school in Houston, Texas.

From Houston, he moved his family to Cleveland, Ohio, where he resided for several years. Later, the family moved to Dallas, Texas. Lamar went on to graduate from Trinity Theological Seminary with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theology.

For many years, he enjoyed a career in accounting. His most recent employment was in purchasing at Garland Independent School District and Plano Independent School District. Lamar was a member of North Dallas Community Bible Fellowship.

He also attended Amity Bible Church. Affectionately regarded as “Dino” by family and friends and “PopPop” by his grandchildren, Lamar was determined, strong-willed, knowledgeable, loving, gracious, hospitable, professional, sincere, and kind. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was predeceased by his mother, Irene Yola Banks. Those left to cherish precious memories include his wife, Dana; son, Lamar Garland, Jr. and his wife, Cortney; son, Dustin Garland and his fiancé; grandson, Aiden Garland; granddaughter, Abigail Garland; siblings: Mariah Garland, Patricia, and Latasha Sheppard; uncle, Waldo Banks, Sr. and his wife, Anice; dear cousins: Edward Brown II, Yolanda Phillips, Waldo Banks, Jr., Natalie Banks, Diane Banks, Linda Fitzpatrick, Wanda Solaru, Kenneth Wilson, and Arlene Wilson; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
