Larkin Ray Barnett Jr. age 63, of Sidney, Ohio returned to his loving Creator on Friday, February 8, 2019 at Wilson Health Hospital, Sidney. Ray was born on January 8, 1956 in Savannah, Georgia to Larkin Ray Sr. and Jeanette McMullen Barnett. An only child, he grew up in Fairborn, Ohio but made many cherished memories with his grandparents and extended family in Cincinnati.

Ray graduated from Fairborn Park Hills High School, Class of 1974 where he met the love of his life, Sandra Reaper. They married in July of 1975, and were blessed with 5 children, Thelma, Tammie, Michael, Timothy, and Benjamin. Spending time with his family was his biggest priority.

Ray’s daily walk with his Creator was his biggest passion in this life. He loved learning everything he could about GD, he spent many hours daily reading the Bible and books by the great sages of the Jewish faith. His desire was to grow closer to GD with each new day he was blessed with.

He was known to share whatever knowledge he learned, he simply enjoyed his time with GD. He also enjoyed teaching and sharing Biblical learning as pastor of Beit Baruch Tikvah in Sidney. Ray was an avid History buff, a forever student in Biblical history as well as in world history.

He enjoyed sharing this love with his children and grandchildren, spending many family vacations at historical places. He also loved reading, spending time in nature with his family, fishing and wood working. He loved farming, it was another form of his connection to GD.

Everything Ray did, participated in was part of his relationship with GD. Ray retired from General Motors, Moraine Assembly in 2007. He also worked for Auto Zone and Advance Auto Parts as a Commercial Manager, retiring in 2016.

He was big of stature and of heart…a beautiful soul who had a ready smile and encouraging word for everyone he met. He was a loving husband, a caring Dad, a friend who was quick to help and encourage, a man who practiced random kindness each new day. He never met a stranger and never thought twice about helping anyone in need.

He simply felt it was his purpose in this life. Ray is survived by his wife Sandy and 4 children, Thelma Schneider of Sidney, Tammie and Bill Lee of Sidney, Timothy of Sidney, Benjamin and Shari, Sidney. He is also survived by grandchildren Aidan Lee, Brianna Schneider and Sandy Lee.
