Larry’s Obituary Larry R. Kaptur, age 84 of Freeport, IL, passed away on Saturday, February 16, 2019 at FHN Memorial Hospital in Freeport. He was born on January 12, 1935 in Lake Leo, IN; the son of the late Theadore and Ruby (Julius) Kaptur. He graduated from Hammond High School and attended Hammond Technical Institute in Hammond, IN.

Larry married Ruby Zook on June 6, 1992. He served in the United States Army. He had worked for Standard Forge in Indiana.

He later worked for Anchor Harvey in both Chicago and Freeport for 38 years, retiring in 1996. Larry attended Park Hills Evangelical Free Church of Freeport. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing and hunting.

Larry is survived by his wife, Ruby Kaptur of Freeport; step-son, Charles (Sheila) Steinhauser of Forreston; step-daughters, Candy (Paul) Thomas of Freeport, Cynthia Colley of Freeport, Debbie (Doug) Vinnedge of Oakland City, IN, and Robin (Matt) Buchler of Mattawan, MI; several step-grandchildren, great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers; and his beloved dogs, Topper & Toby. Cremation rites have been accorded.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Condolences may be shared with his family at www. walkermortuary.com.
