Laura J. Lovell December 23, 2018 Send Flowers Sign Guestbook Laura J. Lovell, 90, of Chillicothe, died 6:18 a.m. Sunday, December 23, 2018 at Signature HealthCARE of Chillicothe following an extended illness. She was born August 14, 1928, in Ross County, to the late Charles S. and Mary A. Wagner Cottrill. Surviving are many cousins including, Tina (Bob) Dearth, of Chillicothe, Carroll Wagner, of Arlington, TX, Gilbert Wagner, Carolyn Fields, both of Springfield, OH; numerous other extended family members; and her adopted family, Teresa and Roger Smithson and Ashley Firestone.

She was predeceased by her father, Charles Cottrill; mother, Mary A. Trader; a brother, George E. Cottrill; and a sister, Margaret Bethel. Laura was a member of Tyler Memorial United Methodist Church, The Beta Sigma Phi sorority, and the American Red Cross where she had served as a volunteer for 69 years. She also volunteered her time to numerous organizations and causes.

Laura retired from Adena Regional Medical Center, had formerly worked as a personal assistant to Gov. DiSalle, and was a former news reporter for NBC in New York City. She earned her pilot’s license in 1950 and volunteered with the Civil Air Patrol.

A funeral service, along with a Beta Sigma Phi sorority service, will be held 11a.m. Friday, December 28, 2018 in the WARE FUNERAL HOME with Pastor Willard McCray officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
