OBITUARY Laurine Claire Knott February 16, 1930 – September 12, 2018 Laurine Claire Knott of Bellevue, WA passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at the age of 88; when Our Lord reached out and gently took her by the hands and led her into the light everlasting. Laurine was born to Laurence and Laura K. Schore in Tacoma, WA. on February 16, 1930.

She spent her summer on the shores of American Lake, graduating from Stadium High School in 1947, and attended the College of Puget, majored in music, an active member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority and Sweetheart of Kappa Sigma fraternity. She was the lyric soprano with the Adelfian Choir during her college years. In 1954 she married Emmet Kennard Knott Jr., they moved to Orange County, CA where Laurine began her philanthropic activities.

She was a founding member of the first Lamplighters Guild supporting the Children’s Hospital of Orange County, CA. Laurine also supported local youth groups such as the Girl Scout’s with her involvement in the Garden Grove Junior Woman’s Civic Club. In 1965 the family returned to the Pacific Northwest and took a home in Seattle.

Laurine continued her love for music and stage by attending the Seattle Opera, 5th Avenue Theater, and Seattle Repertory Theater as a seasonal ticket holder. She loved the game of golf and played competitively with her friends up until 2015, when she put down her clubs for good, enjoying it by watching it on television instead. Her other great passion was travelling, where it took her to China, Mexico, many of the States and several cruises to the Caribbean.

Laurine was a great mother to her children, a terrific grandmother, a wonderful wife and a beautiful person to all that knew her. She was an active member and tireless volunteer to St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Medina, WA for over 25 years. Laurine is survived by her son Emmet K. Knott III (Kristin) and granddaughter Mackenzie Anne of Newcastle, WA, daughter Laurine L. Knott (Darrell Johnson) of Burien, WA and nephew Jay Hoffman (Donell) of California.

Laurine was preceded in death by her sister Jacqueline Hoffman. Services will be held at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Medina, WA on October 6, 2018 at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Children’s Choir of St. Thomas, or the charity of your choice.
