Lavon Tipton, 81, of Connersville went home to be with the Lord surrounded by her loving family, Friday morning, December 28, 2018 at her home. She was born June 12, 1937 in Wallins Creek, KY in Harlan County, one of seven children of Curtis and Pauline (Calloway) Simpson. On August 31, 1957, she was married in the Liberty Church of Christ by Reverend Robert Hensley to Roy Tipton a native of Harlan County, KY.

And they moved to Connersville for residence on November 14, 1964. Mr. Tipton survives. A devoted Homemaker, she was faithful to her family, especially her grandchildren.

Following Roy’s retirement, they became caretakers for many families in the area. She was a faithful member of the Park Road Christian Center. In her leisure, she enjoyed watching sports on the television, she was an avid Kentucky Wildcat fans and became an IU basketball fan and also a Colts fan.

She also enjoyed fishing and together they enjoyed taking their children to local parks and area attractions. Survivors besides her husband of sixty-one years include five sons, Roy Dwayne (Debbie) Tipton, Curtis David (Beth) Tipton, Ronnie Gene (Ginger) Tipton, Johnny Fielden (Susie) Tipton and Steven Ray (Tracy) Tipton, all of Connersville; thirteen grandchildren, Shawn (Barbara) Tipton, of Connersville, Bradley (Lesley) Tipton, of Florence, KY, Shane (Rachel) Tipton, of Greenfield, IN, Addison (Jackie) Tipton, of Liberty, IN, Valerie Tipton, of Connersville, Brooke (Alex) Murray, of Liberty, IN, Bryce Tipton and Seth Tipton, both of Connersville, Luke (Lacey) Tipton, of Liberty, IN, Cameron Tipton, of Shimane, Japan, Ryan Tipton, of Anderson, IN, Heather and Hannah Tipton, both of Connersville; ten great-grandchildren; two sisters, Betty Sue (Lee) Shepard, of Brown City, MI and Juanita Harber, of Rose Hill, VA; two brothers, Ronnie Simpson, of Wallins Creek, KY and Hugh (Judy) Simpson, of Madison Heights, MI; a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Johnny Simpson and Curtis Simpson Jr. Funeral services will be conducted by her grandson Reverend Shawn Tipton and Reverend Brandon Bumbalough at 10 AM, Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Dale Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 until 6 PM, Monday, December 31, 2018 and anytime online at millermosterrobbins.com. Memorial contributions may be made to the Fayette County Cancer Fund, P.O. Box 480 Connersville, IN 47331.
