Lawrence “Larry” A. Theisen August 16, 1926 – December 27, 2018 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card Lawrence “Larry” A. Theisen, 92, of Marinette passed away on Thursday, December 27, 2018 at the Luther Home. He was born on August 16, 1926 to the late Frank and Mary Ann (Bernardy) Theisen in Menominee. He was the seventh of eight children.

Lawrence attended Walsh Grade School and Our Lady of Lourdes High School. He served in the Army towards the end of World War II and again during the Korean Conflict. On September 17, 1955 Lawrence and Dolores DeDamos were united in marriage at St. Anne’s Church in Menominee.

They farmed in Porterfield until 1980. After the farm was sold, he was employed as a bus driver with Westlund Bus Lines and delivered Meals on Wheels for several years. He was a member of SS.

Joseph & Edward Parish where he served on the church’s Building and Grounds Committee, was a Lector, and Minister of the Eucharist. He was also a member of Knights of Columbus and Loomis Legion. He served as Porterfield Town Clerk for six years, Town Chairman for 13 years, and Marinette County Board for 16 years.

He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed golfing. Lawrence is survived by his wife of 63 years, Dolores; three children: Charlene Gurney of Sun Prairie, Tim (Debra) of Royersford, PA, and Diane (Greg) Schliep of Abrams; seven grandchildren: Dale (Darsey) Shepherd of Green Bay, Jessica (Jim) Love of Madison, Aaron (Kari) Gurney of Combined Locks, Kristen Gurney of Madison, Robert Theisen and Katie Theisen both of Royersford, PA, Kimberly Schliep of Menasha; six great grandchildren: Logan, Miranda, Zack, Tyler, Mikayla, and Sophie; brother in law, William Walker of Marinette; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers: Robert, Fr.

Donald, Vernon, Leonard, and Norbert; and two sisters, Mary Walker and Kathleen Kroll. Visitation will be held at SS. Joseph & Edward Parish on Monday, December 31st from 10 a.m. until time of service.

Funeral Mass will be held at Noon with Fr. Jess Berdol officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
