Obituary for Lawrence Ray Middleton Lawrence Ray Middleton was born on December 22, 1926, to Pauline (Royse) and William E. Middleton of Morris. He graduated from Morris High School in May of 1943 and joined the U.S. Navy where he served as pharmacist mate and afterwards attended Oklahoma State University in Stillwater. He worked as a butcher with his parents at Middleton’s Grocery before becoming an independent oil operator.

He married Marilyn Jean Lewis on January 1, 1953, at the First Baptist Church in Morris and they lived in Morris since that time. Lawrence was a charter member of Trinity Baptist Church of Morris. He was saved and baptized at the First Baptist Church of Morris at the age of 10.

He was an ordained deacon and served as Sunday School Teacher and in the music programs of these churches. He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, parents, one brother, Billy E. Middleton and parents-in-law Richard and Grace Lewis. Survivor is his sister-in-law, Grace Darlene Lewis, of Morris.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at the Trinity Baptist Church of Morris with Reverend Randy Mathews officiating. Interment will follow in the Okmulgee Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Dan Boydston, Wendall Haworth, Kevin Flanagan, Doc Thomas, David Dixon and Mike Brannon.

Friends may visit the funeral home on Tuesday from 12:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. Arrangements have been entrusted to the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Morris.
