Obituary for Leatrice J. Whittington Age 82 of Shell Knob, MO passed away Wednesday, December 26, 2018 in Braidwood, IL surrounded by her family. Born on July 30, 1936 in Chicago, IL to the late Martin S. and Pauline (nee Drewek) Smith. She married Clarence “Dick” Whittington on October 9, 1954 in Chicago, IL.

He preceded her in death on March 12, 2013. Leatrice loved cats and dogs and volunteered at the Haven of the Ozarks animal sanctuary where she has served as president of the board. She also enjoyed her time with the Divas, as well as spending time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Surviving are her sons, Scott (Debbie) Whittington of Morris, IL, Tim (Sandi Watson) Whittington of Phoenix, AZ, and Bryan (Heather) Whittington of Bourbonnais, IL; daughters, Patricia (Kenneth) King of Braidwood, IL and Pamela Thompson of Vidor, TX; twelve grandchildren and numerous great and great-great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her husband; son, Christopher Martin; and grandson, Mark Ritchey. Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Joseph Church in Manhattan, IL on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 11 am with visitation beginning at 10 am.

Inurnment will follow in St Joseph Cemetery in Manhattan, IL. In lieu of flowers memorial donations in her name may be directed to Haven of the Ozarks Animal Sanctuary. For more information find us on Facebook.
