Paul Joseph Abraham, Jr. Age 80, of Chester, IL, passed away Friday, March 22, 2019 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Chesterfield, MO. He was born October 30, 1938 in Chicago, IL to Paul Sr. and Mildred (nee Prochazka) Abraham. Paul was a 1956 graduate of Reed-Custer High School in Braidwood, IL.

He actively served in the United States Navy from 1957-1961, and then the Naval Reserves, with an honorable discharge in 1963. He married Sue Ellen Mueller on July 11, 1964. Paul was a retired Sheet Metal Journeyman, Local #265, and an avid golfer.

After retirement, he enjoyed wintering in Largo, FL. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, where he had a favorite pew. Surviving are his wife, Sue; two daughters, Lisa Marie (Merle) Briggs of Chester, IL and Gretchen Rae (Thomas) Smith of Valrico, FL; two grandchildren, Allison Sue Briggs and Matthew Paul Smith.

Also surviving are two brothers, Christopher Albert (Gloria Johnson) Abraham of Maricopa, AZ and David (Karen Jennings) Abraham of Sarasota, FL; one sister, Carol Oard of Phoenix, AZ; two sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law, Rebecca Baker Abraham of Republic, WA and James and Donna (Mueller) Weber of Kirkwood, MO; three nephews, three nieces; and 8 grand nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his father, Paul J. Abraham, Sr.; two mothers, Mildred and Virginia; father-in-law, Paul B. Mueller; mother-in-law, Charlesa (Emert) Mueller; brother, Joseph Abraham; nephew, Thomas Oard; and brother-in-law, Melvin Oard. Visitation will be at the R.W. Patterson Funeral Home & Crematory on Thursday, March 28, 2019 from 4-8 p.m. and also on Saturday, March 30, from 9-11 a.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Chester, IL.

Funeral service immediately following with Christian burial at St. John Lutheran Cemetery. Rev. Justin Massey, Associate Pastor of St. John is the officiant.
