Lee Rae Conlon, 76, of Sturgeon Bay, fell asleep in the loving arms of her family and awoke in the arms of the Lord, October 13, 2018 while at the Door County Medical Center Skilled Nursing Facility. She was born June 10, 1942 in Milwaukee, the daughter of Cyril and Dorothy (Giese) Ripple. Lee’s family moved to Sturgeon Bay in 1956 when they relocated their business, Milwaukee Shoe Co., here.
She graduated from Sturgeon Bay High School in 1960 and went to study at secretarial school in Milwaukee. On April 16, 1966, Lee was united in marriage to James Harold Conlon at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sturgeon Bay where she remained a lifelong member. They were blessed with over 52 years of marriage.
Lee cared for her family and home and “cooked like a professional”. She was an artist – a very good drawer and had a love for nature and animals. Lee also had a passion for gardening and definitely knew her flowers.
She and Jim were also members of the American Truck Historical Society. Lee’s love will live on in the hearts of her husband, Jim; one son and two daughters, Joseph Conlon, Christine (Ron LaLuzerne) Conlon, and Jeanne (Michael) Sallinen [and Jeanne’s sons, Jaeger and Rex Brusky], all of Sturgeon Bay; siblings-in-law, Charles Connelly of Menomonee Falls, Mary Beth (Bill) Rath of Omaha, NE, and Ann (Marvin) Clapman of Munster, IN; nieces and nephews; other relatives; and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; and three sisters, Joanne Connelly, Barbara Mueller, and Jacquelyn Merrill; and other relatives.
Lee’ s life will be honored with Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 19, 2018 St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sturgeon Bay with Fr. Robert Stegmann as celebrant. She will be laid to rest in St. Joseph Cemetery.
Visitation for family and friends will be held from 4:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 18, 2018 at Huehns Funeral Home in Surgeon Bay with a parish wake service to be held at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 10:50 a.m. Lee loved children; memorials may be given in her name for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. “Our family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the staffs of Sturgeon Bay Health Services (formerly Golden Living Center-Dorchester), the Skilled Nursing Facility, and Unity Hospice for their care given to Lee”.
