Lela M. Glossop, 100, of Rock Island, passed away Monday, December 17, 2018 at Silver Cross – Friendship Manor, Rock Island. Funeral services for Lela will be 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Wheelan-Pressly Funeral Home and Crematory, Rock Island. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

Private inurnment will be in Rock Island Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. Lela was born February 25, 1918 in Chicago, the daughter of James and Mary (Ivan) Hankins.

She married Sydney Glossop on June 29, 1947 in Chicago. Sydney preceded her in death in 1987. Lela was a homemaker and worked for Manpower for a short time in earlier years.

She was a member of South Park Presbyterian Church, Rock Island and was very involved at the Hauberg Center in her earlier years. Lela loved crossword puzzles, traveling, reading, dancing and playing card games, especially bridge. Survivors include her son, Bryan (Deanna) Glossop, Rock Island and several grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a brother, Kenneth Hankins.
