OBITUARY Lena May Alameda February 21, 1921 – July 12, 2018 Play Tribute Movie Lena May (Sanders) Alameda, age 97, of San Antonio, Texas went to be with her Lord on Thursday, July 12, 2018. Lena was born on February 21, 1921 in Floresville, Texas to Ben and May Sanders. Lena was a beloved mother of 8.

Lena was known for her witty sense of humor, love of birds, music and dancing. She was a devoted Catholic women who many relied heavily on for prayer. As an adult, she taught herself how to read and write to communicate with her eldest son you was stationed away in the military.

Because Lena knew both the English and Spanish language, she captured the heart of all her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great, great grandchildren. Lena often had them mesmerized with stories of her youth. All whom loved her dearly will never forget her undying love for them.

Lena leaves behind her children, Gloria Chavana, Henry (Diana) Alameda, Helen (Tony) Rendon, Laurie Ann Recio, 18 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, 11 great-great grandchildren and siblings, Rudy Sanders, Lily Huitron and Linda Sanders. Lena was preceded in death by her parents, Ben and May Sanders and 4 sons, Robert Arriola, Roy Arriola, Gilbert Arriola and Benny Arriola. The family will receive guests at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, 6321 Bandera Road San Antonio 78238 on Monday, July 16th at 5:00 pm.

Rosary will commence at 7:00 pm. Funeral procession will depart funeral home at 9:00 am on Tuesday, July 17th. A Mass in Lena’s memory will be conducted at 10:0 0am at St. Dominic Catholic Church, 5919 Ingram Rd San Antonio, TX 78228.

She will be laid to rest at San Fernando Cemetery #2, 746 Castroville Rd, San Antonio, TX 78237 immediately following Mass. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation for the sympathy, comforting words, prayer and all expressions of kindness and concern. Special thanks to the staff at Sorrento Assisted Living and Encompass Hospice of Central Texas.
