OBITUARY Leon Elzie Howell January 14, 1931 – September 15, 2018 Leon Elzie Howell, 87, passed away at his home surrounded by family on Saturday, September 15, 2018. Leon was born in Brewton, Alabama to Leon O. and Gladys Howell. He was 3rd class Boatswain Mate during the Korean war.

After being honorable discharge from the Navy, he retired from U.S. civil service. Leon loved golf, casinos, and the Crimson Tide. For all of Leon’s interests and achievements the most important thing in his life was his family.

Leon was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth “Betty” Sheffield Howell, his parents Leon O. and Gladys Howell. He is survived by his three daughters, Theresa (Keith) Ramey, Cindy (Todd) Sirmon, Stephanie (Dean) Barnes; one grandson, Daniel (Erin) Cox; four granddaughters, Tara (Stephen) Perrone; Tiffany (Kurt) Ollhoft; Haley Sirmon, and Kyndall Barnes; five great-granddaughters, Anna, Ava, Kallie, Ella, Sophia; and a multitude of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 50 South Ann Street, Mobile, Alabama, with service following immediately after the visitation.

Interment will be in Pine Crest Cemetery. Immediately following the interment, the Makaria will be hosted at the Hellenic Center located at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church.
