Leon L. Romatowski June 14, 1944 – December 21, 2018 Leon L. Romatowski, age 74, of Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, passed away on Friday, December 21, 2018 at Arborview Court Assisted Living in Wisconsin Rapids due to complications of Lewy Body Dementia. Memorial services for Leon will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 28, 2018 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Wisconsin Rapids. Father Dave Bruener will officiate the service.

The family will greet relatives and friends on Friday morning at the church from 10:00 AM- 11:00 AM. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery at a later date. Leon Romatowski was born on June 14, 1944, in Mosinee, Wisconsin.

He was the son of Michael and Cecelia (Grzyb) Romatowski. After graduating from Mosinee High School in 1962, he earned advanced degrees at the University of Wisconsin Stout in Education and Vocational Rehabilitation. As an Vocational Evaluator, Leon counseled his clients to new careers during his 13 years at Mid-State Technical College. With his wife, he co-founded and ran his own successful Vocational Evaluator business for 13 years. Leon was united in marriage to Janee Venhor at St. Patrick’s in Phillips, Wisconsin, on June 25, 1966.

The couple started their family in Winter, Wisconsin. Upon returning to Menominee, Wisconsin, Leon obtained his Masters degree and started his career as a Vocational Evaluator. Leon’s career brought him and his family to Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, where he and his wife raised 5 children over their 52 years of marriage.

Leon was very proud of his family. Leon loved playing his accordion, especially at family events. He put himself through college as a proud member of the polka band Jolly Harmony Kings based in Mosinee.

Leon enjoyed being outdoors whether hunting, fishing, or camping. He could often be found putzing in his large gardens or creating some new gadget or woodworking masterpiece in his workshop. He was proud to have built two of his family’s homes integrating his lifelong interest in alternative energy.

Dad was known for his witty sense of humor, practical wisdom, and the ability to chat for hours Leon is survived by his beloved wife, Janee, his children Mark Romatowski of De Pere, WI, Jamie Romatowski of Phoenix, AZ, Janell (Patty Allen) Romatowski of Eau Claire, WI, Nicol Romatowski of Wisconsin Rapids, WI and Noell Romatowski of Delray Beach, FL; grandchildren Joshua, Tyler, Ben, Michael, Jonathon; brothers Raymond (Jean) Romatowski of Mosinee, WI and Florian (Betty) Romatowski of Mosinee, WI He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Michael Ramatowski Jr. and God child and Nephew Jay Romatowski. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be considered to the Lewy Body Dementia Asssociation.
