Leona Dorothy Johnson, 83, of Reinbeck, Iowa passed away on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 28, 2018 at the Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 29, 2018 at Saint John’s Lutheran Church in Reinbeck.

Burial will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery in Grundy Center. Memorials may be directed to Saint John’s Lutheran Church. Leona was born on December 31, 1934 in Waterloo, Iowa to her parents George & Corlena (Cordes) Schiller.

She was raised and educated in Grundy Center. Leona was united in marriage to her husband LeRoy Johnson on July 8, 1956 in Parkersburg, Iowa. LeRoy and Leona made their home in Reinbeck and together they welcomed their son Calvin & their daughter Brenda into their family.

Leona was a long-time active member of Saint John’s Lutheran Church in Reinbeck. She was a homemaker and a devoted wife and mother to her family. Leona is survived by her son Cal (Teresa) Johnson of Davenport, Iowa; daughter Brenda (Les) Douglass of Waterloo, Iowa; grandchildren Craig (Chrystal) Choate of Norwalk, Iowa, Brandy (Jeremy) Sprague of Waterloo, Iowa, Myles (Erica) Douglass of Dysart, Iowa & Nicole Douglass of Iowa City, Iowa; great-grandchildren Tatum Choate, Lucas Choate, Kaiden Sprague, Jordan Brown & Chloe Brown; sister Lena DeLange; brother Harry (Lillian) Schiller; sister-in-law Mary Reubel.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband LeRoy Johnson; brothers Herman, George & Marvin Schiller and sisters Francis Chestnut & Ella Tjebkes.
