LEONARD’s Obituary Leonard M. Cegla, 82, Moose Lake, died Wednesday, May 29, 2019 in Essentia Health – St. Mary’s Medical Center, Duluth. He was born on July 31, 1936 in Denham to Anton and Lillian Cegla. Leonard attended school in Denham and later Willow River.

He worked at Diamond Match in Cloquet. In 1959, Leonard entered the United States Army during the Cold War. He served in Germany and often talked about visiting Denmark during his time off.

After the Army, Leonard worked at Conwed until 1985. He later worked as a seasonal worker for General Andrews Nursery. Leonard also enjoyed mowing lawns and doing odd jobs for people in the area.

He truly loved socializing with his friends. Leonard is preceded in death by his parents: Anton and Lillian Cegla; two brothers: Bernard Cegla and Edward Cegla; and two sisters: Martha Cegla and Frances Kozlowski. He will be lovingly remembered by his five siblings: Marge Pietrzak of Crystal; Arlene Gresczyk of Moose Lake; Ernie Cegla of Harris; Jean LaChance of Minneapolis; and Carol Priem of Phoenix, AZ; sister-in-law: Mabel Cegla of Moose Lake; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visitation will be from 10 am until the 11 am Service on Monday, June 3, 2019 in Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home, Moose Lake. Lunch will follow the service at the Depot and we will leave at 1:15 PM in procession to St. Isidore’s Catholic Cemetery in Sturgeon Lake for the Burial with Military Honors at 1:30 PM. Military Honors will be accorded by Sturgeon Lake-Denham American Legion Post #361 and the Willow River American Legion Post #163.
