Obituary for Leonard H. Sparkman Leonard H. Sparkman, 93, of Lawrenceburg, died Monday morning at the Thomson-Hood Veterans Center in Wilmore. A native of Cumberland, Ky, he served as a member of the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was a former diesel mechanic for various companies and spent time as both a Mason and a Shriner.
Son of the late Grace Hawk and Joe Sparkman, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jayne Fitzroy Sparkman; grandsons, Bobby Sparkman and Justin Keller; and four brothers. Survivors include a daughter, Sheryl Sparkman (Michael) Brown, of Michigan; son, Dale Leonard (Sheila) Sparkman, of Lawrenceburg; sisters, Lenna Sparkman Dixon, of Lexington, and Marge (Clarence) Lemster, of Bowling Green; three grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Saturday at the Thomson-Hood Veterans Center in Wilmore.
