Lester ‘Les’ Faltin Kolste passed away Sunday, September 30, 2018. He was born in Choteau, MT to Faltin Dorn Kolste and Lucy Margaret Crawford Kolste on June 15, 1930. Les grew up in Fairfield with four siblings: Margaret[D], Russell[D], Doreen[D], and Paul.

After graduation he served in the Navy. He had a love of horses, training them and riding broncs at rodeos. He married Helen Gayle Paddock on June 9, 1950 and they had four daughters: Dee Dee (Roland[D]) Messier, Leslie[D] (Greg)… Read More » Simays, Sandy (Matt) Jimenez and Shirley (Doug) Maier.

Gayle passed away in July 2009. Les retired after working in the propane field throughout the United States and served as a Justice of the Peace in Plentywood, MT. He enjoyed playing golf, was a member of the American Legion Post 87 in Manhattan, MT and belonged to the Manhattan Senior Center.

In January 2012, Les met Joyce Nelson while clogging at the Belgrade Senior Center. They were married on December 22, 2012 and they grew into a large family. Joyce had six children: Fred (Susan) Nelson, Twila (Tom) Harrington, Calvin (Teri) Nelson, Lee (Lisa) Nelson, Darwin Nelson, and Krista (Corey) Mayfield.

Between them they had 22 grandchildren and 31 great-grandchildren. At Les’ request, there will be no services. Donations may be made to American Legion Post 87 or the Manhattan Senior Center, P.O. Box 5, Manhattan, MT 59741.
