Lester J., “Les”, 91, of Johnstown, went to be with the Lord on April 18th, 2018. Born February 26th, 1927. Preceded in death by parents: Isadore Weinzierl and Marie (Sellman), survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Eileen (Platt) and children: Dennis and his wife Julie of Columbus, OH; Maureen and her husband Phil of Woodstock, GA; Gary and his wife Judy of Johnstown, PA.

Les is also survived by eight grandchildren: Lynette, Steven, Liz, Lauren, Cassie, Kellie, Mark, and Jennifer; thirteen great-grandchildren: AJ, Elle, Lexi, Harley, Logan, Olivia, Janelle, Keeley, Geraint, Gethin, Mikayla, Riley, and Evie. He is also survived by his brother Robert (preceded by wife Mary), sister Margaret (Weinzierl) (preceded by husband Thomas), brother Thomas and his wife Mary Kay, and preceded by brother William (surviving wife Rosemarie), preceded by brother Arthur (surviving wife Polly), preceded by brother Jimmy (age 9), preceded by sister Mary Ann (Weinzierl) and husband Burt Findley, and preceded by brother Joseph and wife Anna Marie, all of Johnstown. Les was a proud U.S. Navy veteran of WWII.

He was the Founder of Westwood Auto Body, who was honored to have served the community and surrounding area for 43 years. He was a founding member of St. Clements Catholic Church, and was a former member and President of the Westwood Kiwanis, and member of the Inter-Service Club Council of Johnstown, PA. For many years he was an avid boater, who enjoyed taking his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, for family time at the lake.

Les enjoyed golfing into his nineties. There was nothing more important to Les than his faith, family, and his most beloved wife and best friend, Eileen. Family and friends are invited to celebrate his life at his Funeral Mass, which will be held at St. Clement’s Catholic Church on Monday, April 23rd, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. with Father William Rosenbaum as the celebrant.

At Lester’s request, there will not be a viewing. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Clement’s Catholic Church at 110 Lindberg Avenue, Johnstown, PA 15905. Interment will be held at Grandview Cemetery, where military rites will be accorded by Conemaugh Valley Detachment, #287, Marine Corps League.
