East – John William Jr., 73, Upper Yoder Township, went home to be with the Lord on May 19, 2018 at Conemaugh Memorial Hospital. Born on February 18, 1945 in Waco, TX, son of John William Sr. and Dorothy Louise (Foster) East. Preceded in death by his parents; brother, Stanley Michael; and niece, Leslie Ann Morgan.

He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Fran D. (Herr) East, Upper Yoder Township; daughters, Kimberly Lou Marie, wife of Caleb M. Overdorff, Westmont, Sarah Elizabeth Dawn East, Louisville, KY, and Anna Kathryn Christine East, Murfreesboro, TN; grandchildren, Elsie Marie, Corbin Michael, and Amelia May Overdorff; sister, Kathryn Ann, wife of F.A. Rhine Morgan III, Springfield, VA; brother, Kenneth E. East, married to the former Aurora I. Martinez, Grapevine, TX; niece, Tracie L. Morgan, Blacksburg, VA; nephew, Evan F. East, Grapevine, TX; great niece, Dorothy Malmberg; great nephews, Joshua Jr., and Finis Malmberg. John was a graduate of West Anchorage High School, AK. He was employed as a teacher in Kansas City as well as a football and wrestling coach.

John later retired from Genworth Financial after many years of service as an Insurance Agent. He was a member and former Trustee of Emmanuel Baptist Church, and an active participant in his Men’s Bible Study. John was an avid sports and history enthusiast.

He loved his family dearly, especially his grandchildren. At John’s request, there will be no public viewing. Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of his life which will begin at 4 p.m. Wednesday and continue with the service beginning at 5 p.m. at Emmanuel Baptist Church, with the Rev.

Peter Nordlund officiating. The family is being served by the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland. The family suggests contributions be directed to Emmanuel Baptist Church, 425 Luther Road, Johnstown, PA 15904 in memory of John.
