Brown, Bonna L., 78, Johnstown, passed away May 14, 2018 at Laurelwood Care Center. Born November 4, 1939 in Central City, Pa, daughter of the late Robert and Vera (Ankeny) Manges. Preceded in death by husband, Alvin Brown; and only grandson, Michael Brown.

Survived by loving son, Alan (Mike) Brown married to Luz, and family, North Carolina; and sister, Sheri, married Jay Moore, and family, Johnstown. Bonna suffered from a rare genetic disorder, Alport syndrome, which affected her eyes, hearing and kidney functions. She attended and graduated from the Western pa school for the blind.

She later worked as an elevator operator at the Penn Traffic Co. When she resided at Glendale year round, she loved to sit on her deck and feed the deer. They would come and eat out of her hands. She couldn’t see them but always felt they were the most beautiful creatures on earth.

She also loved her dog Bubba. After becoming a resident of Laurelwood she spent her time listening to books on her digital recorder and would like to share the stories with all of us. We would like to thank all the staff at Laurelwood and SeniorLife for their compassionate and excellent care given to Bonna during her stay there.

A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at the Oakland United Methodist Church, Bedford St. on Saturday, May 26th, at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Randy Bain, officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the Johnstown Christian School, 125 Christian School Rd, Hollsopple, Pa 15935-9419.
