Lewis Edward Carwile, Sgt. Major Ret. , VaARNG, went to be with the angels and the love of his life, “Bug”, on December 15, 2018.

He was born June 15, 1924 in Beckley WV, the son of now deceased Ernest Benton Carwile and Minnie Fore McNamee. He was predeceased by his brothers Carl, Milton, Cecil and Raymond Carwile and his cherished wife, Betty Belle Carwile. He is survived by his daughters Diane P’Pool (Brian) and Cindy Adams, his grandsons Michael and Russell P’Pool and Jeremy Giacobbe, his great-grandson Hayden P’Pool and his brother Eugene Benton Carwile.

Lewis was a veteran of WW11 where he served in the Pacific and was awarded two Bronze Stars for valor among other decorations. He then made a career in the Virginia Army National Guard as a munitions expert and had served over 35 years on retirement. The family will receive friends at 1pm on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at Morrissett Funeral and Cremation Service, 6500 Iron Bridge Rd (rt.

10), where his funeral service will follow at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to the Wounded Warrior Project or the charity of your choice.
