Obituary for Librada Diaz Beltran LIBRADA NAVARRO DIAZ BELTRAN, 88 of Ogallala, passed away October 15, 2018, at Great Plains Health in North Platte. Librada was born August 20, 1930, at Laredo, TX to Amador and Simona (Longoria) Navarro. She attended school in Laredo before moving to Lewellen with her family at the age of thirteen.

In 1949, Librada married James Diaz, and the couple made their home in Ogallala. Their union was blessed with six children. Librada worked at TRW for many years, retiring in 1974.

Following her time at TRW, she babysat children at her home. Librada took care of countless children through the years and often spoiled them with especially memorable trips to the movies and A & W afterward. At the heart of Librada’s life were family and faith.

She loved to travel whenever she got the chance. She enjoyed sightseeing and visiting her family. She was a fantastic cook, and food always played an integral part of family gatherings.

As any good grandma, she cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren. She also had a special place in her heart for babies and her dogs. Librada was preceded in death by her parents; former spouse, James; children, Dora, and Rose Ann; along with eight siblings.

Survivors include her children, Betty (Jack) Beard of Lewellen, Joe Diaz of North Platte, Mary Lou Diaz of Kimball, Librada “Libby” (Wayne) Wood of Ogallala; 11 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; 6 siblings, Simona (Rena) Diaz of Big Springs, Raymond (Carmen) Navarro of Wapato, WA, David Navarro of AZ, Martha Torres of Ogallala, Lella Navarro of TX, Josie Navarro of NM; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. A memorial has been established in Librada’s memory for later designation by the family. Condolences may be shared at prairiehillsfuneralhome.com.

A memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, October 20, 2018, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Ogallala with Father Bryan Ernest as Celebrant. A Rosary will be recited on Friday at 6:00 p.m. at the Prairie Hills Funeral Home in Ogallala. Prairie Hills Funeral Home of Ogallala is in charge of arrangements.
