Esbon – Lila Mizner died Monday, June 18. 2018 at Mitchell County Hospital, Beloit, Kansas. Lila Mizner was born on March 4, 1933, at Sylvan Grove, Kansas in Lincoln County to Ray and Mary (Baird) McAlavey.

Lila attended high school at Jewell, Kansas graduating with the class of 1951. After graduating from high school Lila worked at the Jewell Republican Newspaper for several years. On March 5, 1954, she married Ernest Leo Mizner at E.U.B. Church Jewell, Kansas.

To this union 3 sons were born Ray, Robert and Richard. Lila lived most of her life on the Mizner family farm north of Esbon, Kansas. She was a stay at home mom and helped with chores on the farm.

Later she worked several years as a cook at Heritage Nursing Home in Red Cloud, Nebraska and at the Jewell County Nutrition Site. After the death of her husband in May 1987, she moved to Mankato, Kansas where she resided until June of 2017. Since then she had been a resident of Hilltop Lodge in Beloit, Kansas.

She was proceeded in death by her husband Ernest Leo Mizner, parents Ray and Mary MacAlavey, sister Irene Ragland, brothers Theo MacAlavey, and Robert MacAlavey. Survivors include three sons, Ray and wife Barb of Esbon, Robert and wife Kazuko of Jacksonville, North Carolina, and Richard and wife, Charlene of Peoria, Arizona. Grandchildren include Kenny Mizner, Nick Mizner, Kristi Rohlf, Nanieta Bange, Jeff Mizner, Robert Mizner, and Eddy Mizner, seven great grandchildren, one brother Ralph MacAlavey, and two sisters Sylvia Rutledge, and Donna Perkins.

Graveside service and inurnment will be held Wednesday, 10:30 a.m., September 26, 2018 at the Esbon Cemetery with the Rev. Rod Rose officiating. Memorials are suggested to the Esbon Community Center/City of Esbon.
