Lillie Mae Abel, April 23, 1926 — March 18, 2019

Lillie’s Obituary Lillie Mae (Goeke) Abel, 92, formerly a longtime resident of Bellville and most recently living in Cypress, Texas, went to her eternal rest on March, 18, 2019. Lillie Mae was born on April 23, 1926 in Kenney, Texas. She is the daughter of the late Herbert B. and Lillie (Raehe) Goeke.

She attended the Germania Public School. She was baptized on December 31, 1926 and confirmed on April 2, 1939, both at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bellville. St. John’s was the setting of Lillie Mae and the late Henry Abel, Sr’s.

marriage on January 15, 1948. They celebrated 61 years of marriage prior to Henry, Sr’s passing in October 2009. Both Lillie Mae and Henry were lifelong members of St. John’s Lutheran Church of Bellville, where she served on various committees and enjoyed singing in the choir.

Lillie Mae worked for many years in the Bellville schools in the cafeteria and in her later years enjoyed being a homemaker, cooking and baking many of her delicious recipes. She could be found at their homesite on North Amthor Street, outside in her garden or in her flowerbeds, always putting the final touches on their well-manicured lawn. Lillie Mae is survived by her son, Henry Abel Jr. and his wife Connie of Cypress, TX.

; daughter, Kathy Kinninger and her husband, Gary of Cypress, TX; grandchildren: Marci and Danny Shipman; Mark Abel; Joshua and Lyndsey Kinninger; Zachary Kinninger; and Nathan Kinninger; great grandchildren: Carter and Lindsey Shipman; brother-in-law, Eddie Broz; sister-in-law, Jennie Gregor, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents Herbert and Lillie Goeke; her sister, Mada Marie Broz; sister and brother-in-law, Viola and Joe Peska; brothers and sister-in-laws, Burgess Goeke and Irene, Gilbert Goeke and Evelyn. Pallbearers: Mark Abel, Joshua Kinninger, Zachary Kinninger, Nathan Kinninger, Danny Shipman, and Rusty Gregor.

Honorary Pallbearer: Carter Shipman. Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Knesek Funeral Home, Bellville, Texas.
