Linda Maxine Altman Groom, 71, of Foxburg, passed away suddenly on Sunday evening, June 24, 2018, at Clarview Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Sligo. Born April 2, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Ruth Logue Sheffer. A 1965 graduate of the Allegheny-Clarion Valley School District in Emlenton, she was of the Methodist faith.

Linda married Dale Edward Groom on October 8, 1966 in St. Petersburg. They enjoyed 42 years of marriage before Dale’s death on December 25, 2008. Linda was a devoted mother and homemaker.

She loved traveling and trying new restaurants, reading, animals, Hallmark movies and spending time with her family. She is survived by two daughters and their spouses, Karen and Michael Meals of Foxburg and Dalene and Tom Bickel of Hampstead, N.C.; three grandchildren, Andrea Meals of Foxburg and Skylar and Landry Bickel of Hampstead and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and mother, she was preceded in death by an infant son, Kevin Dale.

Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home Inc., 802 Grove St., St. Petersburg, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday. A funeral service will be held from the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. on Friday with the Rev. Doug Brink of the Mt.

Joy United Methodist Charge, officiating. Interment will follow at St. Petersburg Cemetery. Contributions in Linda’s memory may be made to the Foxburg and/or St. Petersburg Methodist Churches.
