Charlotte J. Dittman, 73, of VanZandt Lane, Emlenton, Richland Twp. , Clarion County, a well-known St. Petersburg area resident, went to be with the Lord Wednesday evening, July 18, 2018 shortly after her arrival in the emergency department at Clarion Hospital. Charlotte was born in Franklin on June 12, 1945.

She was the daughter of the late Raymond W. and Alice M. Rupert VanZandt. She attended school at A-C Valley. Charlotte was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith.

She was an avid horse lover, enjoyed flower gardening, and most especially enjoyed the company of her grandkids and great grandkids. Surviving are three children, Donald Dittman and his wife, Bonnie, of Emlenton, Sandra L. Smith and her husband, David, of Rimersburg, and Robin J. Michael and her companion, Richard Meckley of Kennerdell; her son-in-law, Larry Michael of Emlenton; her grandchildren, Alicia Dittman, Sam Dittman and his wife, Amanda, Jamie Buzard and his wife, Kayla, Shannon Fletcher and her husband, Mike, Cheyenne Smith and his wife, Allison, and Dylan Austin; her great grandchildren, RaeLynn, Colt, Korbyn, Tucker, Kaya, Lennyx, Deegan, and was looking forward to her eighth great grandchild in December; two brothers, Wilbur VanZandt and his wife, Pat, of Rocky Grove and William VanZandt of Emlenton, as well as a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins, and her faithful companion, her dog, “Bear Bear”. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three siblings, James, Robert, and Anna; two sisters-in-law, Jane and Virginia VanZandt; a nephew, Steven VanZandt, as well as her maternal and paternal grandparents, and her former husband, John Dittman.

Friends will be received at the Hile Funeral Home Inc., 802 Grove Street, St. Petersburg, from 1 – 3 and 6 – 8 p.m. Saturday. A funeral service will be held from funeral home at 1:00 p.m. Sunday with the Rev. Mike Phillips, pastor of Portsmouth Baptist Church, Portsmouth, OH, officiating.
