Mrs. Linda Young, 78, of Dexter, passed away on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at her home. Linda was born in Calloway County on August 11, 1940 to the late James Wesley Jones and Elsie Abolene Stone Jones. She was a member of Dexter Baptist Church.

Linda spent her life doing what she loved the most, raising her kids, helping raise her grandkids, cooking and keeping her home for her family. She loved to attend church, cook and sew and made quilts for all her kids. She traveled some with her husband of 63 years, Robert “Sonny” Young when he drove a truck over the road.

She loved God and all her family and friends and was happy and welcomed all who came to see her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Joe Pat Jones; a son-in-law, Gary Ahart and a brother in law, Jerry Birdsong. Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Willie Robert “Sonny” Young of Dexter; a son, Steve Young (Roslyn) of Murray; four daughters, Debbie Ahart of Almo, Rhonda Kay Darnell (Randy) of Mayfield, Jan Renee Hedrick of Almo, Deidra Ann Allred (Kevin) of Mayfield, a brother, Phillip Reed Jones (Vickie) of Almo; a sister, Wilma Lou Birdsong of Murray; 12 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and a great-great grandaughter.

The funeral service is set for 11 AM on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at Imes Funeral Home & Crematory, downtown Murray. Richard Burkeen and Russell Dunn will officiate and burial will follow at Brooks Chapel Cemetery in Dexter. Pallbearers are Cary Ahart, Shawn Darnell, Matt Darnell, Jacob Young, Tim Davenport, Anthony Davenport and Keaton McAdoo.

Her family will receive visitors from 5-8 PM on Friday, February 8, 2019 at the funeral home. Imes Funeral Home & Crematory, downtown Murray is entrusted with arrangements. Online condolences available at www.
