She was born on October 5, 1948, in San Antonio, Texas, to Jimmie Mae (Carrico) and James Joseph Gilkison. Linda is preceded in death by her parents and sisters Marianne (Gilkison) Kalmbach and Bettie Mae (Gilkison) Traeger.
Linda is survived by her husband Dr. Charles Wayne Beall of Hickory Creek, Texas, her son Martin Lawrence Wind, Jr., his wife Victoria Elizabeth Wind, grandson Martin Lawrence “Trip” Wind, III, and granddaughter Charlotte Elizabeth Wind, all of Frisco, Texas. She is also survived by her niece Sheryl (Traeger) Frenzel, Sheryl’s husband Kevin L. Frenzel, great nieces Lauren Elizabeth Frenzel and Katherine Elaine Frenzel, great nephew Steven Christopher Frenzel all of Round Rock, Texas and her first husband Martin Lawrence Wind, Sr., of Corpus Christi, Texas. Linda was the youngest of three sisters, aka the baby girl.
She was a beautiful, happy baby. As a teenager, she was extremely popular and the life of the party. As an adult, Linda was kind, generous and big-hearted.
She never met a stranger. Linda was always full of life and possessed an indomitable spirit. She always saw what was possible and strived to find beauty in everyday life.
Family was very important to Linda. She looked forward to her “sisters” weekends and annual holiday family gatherings. These traditions made new memories that she cherished.
It was a time of love and laughter and there were always pictures to be taken. Linda married Charles “Chuck” Beall in 1995, and they celebrated 22 years of marriage in November 2017. After six years in Atlanta, Linda and Chuck returned to Texas and called Flower Mound home.
Linda and Chuck shared their home with many Persian cats over the years: Miracle, Xerxes, Taffy, Ghirardelli, Bentley, Trouble, Nutmeg, Missie, Blue, Sophie and Parsley. Linda was passionate about her kitties and doted on them caring for their every need. Linda and Chuck enjoyed their many travels to the Hawaiian Islands and favored Kauai in particular.
Chuck loved Linda with a loyalty and devotion that was sincere and steadfast. Linda’s beloved son, Marty Jr. was her pride and joy. Her love for him was unconditional and knew no bounds.
Linda was so proud of him and of the man and father he is today. She adored his wife Victoria, his cherished soul mate in life. She loved Victoria as a daughter and considered her a friend and confidante.
Linda often said Marty Jr.’s best decision in life was to ask Victoria to join him in marriage. But, above all, Linda cherished and was entirely devoted to her grandchildren, Trip and Charlotte. They will always be her shining stars and there is no doubt she will watch over them with pleasure and joy as they grow into adulthood.
Linda was a talented model, chosen as a runway model for the 1968 World’s Fair in San Antonio, also known as, “ HemisFair ’68”. Linda enjoyed fashion design and was an accomplished seamstress. She could sew anything from housewares to clothing to tiny Barbie doll clothes.
When it came to fashion, Linda was always in style and adapted with the times. She was always a model at heart. Linda was an excellent cook.
Always the consummate hostess, she entertained with fabulous meals. No meal was “simple”. She was like an orchestra conductor in the kitchen.
Lots of activity went into a meal. And, when it was done, a culinary delight was enjoyed by all! She was an accomplished singer and lent her voice to several church choirs during her life.
She traveled with the church choir from St. Andrew’s by the River of Roswell, Georgia, to sing at the Vatican. Linda was also a gifted public speaker. She was a church Lector for many years and valued her home church of St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church in Lewisville, Texas.
She offered her God-given talents to the church her entire life. Linda graduated from MacArthur High School, San Antonio, Texas in 1966. Prior to that, she attended Incarnate Word High School, San Antonio, Texas.
She completed her Business Degree at Corpus Christi State University and then obtained her Masters of Business Administration at University of Dallas Graduate School of Management. As an executive for IBM, Sharp Panasonic, and Pitney Bowes Corporations, she understood the power of continued education and female support in business. She founded Wind Enterprises in 1996 and operated it successfully until her death.
Wind Enterprises is a corporation committed to the personal and professional development of business executive and career woman. In addition, Linda established The Possible Woman Foundation International (PWFI) to provide scholarships for women to pursue non-traditional roles or occupations and to connect them with women trailblazers in corporate America.
