Lloyd Michael McCarty KEYSER, WV – Lloyd Michael McCarty, 71, one of the kindest and most gentle spirits departed this earth Sunday, December 2, 2018 at Western Maryland Health Systems. Born on September 6, 1947 in Monahans, Texas, he was the son of Ethel Marie (Leuckel) and the late Elmo Lloyd McCarty. In addition to his father, Lloyd was preceded in death by his sister, Colleen (McCarty) Donhoff and his sweet great nephew, Noel Edwards.

Lloyd served our country in both the Army and the Navy. He attended the University of Texas in Arlington and earned several degrees in art and history. He became a talented sculptor.

He worked many years with the Equestrian Forge in Leesburg, Virginia, performing restorations on historic homes and government buildings including the White House. One of his proudest accomplishments was his work on the monument the United States presented to Panama when control of the Suez Canal was transferred to that government in December 1999. Upon retirement in 2008 he moved to Keyser to be near family.

Surviving are his Mother, Ethel McCarty, 94, of Keyser; his sisters, Jinx Walker and husband George K. of Keyser and Shannon (McCarty) Halsted of Kentucky and his brother, Fred Patrick McCarty and wife Jane (Lenard) of New York. He was a loving uncle to Rodney Donhoff and wife Jolynn, Renae Alt-Summers and husband Lake of South Carolina, Travis Walker of Keyser, Christopher Halsted, Heather Halsted, both of Texas, Sondra (Donhoff) Utama of Pennsylvania and “grunkle” to Kacy Alt and Keely Alt of Keyser, Zachary Marsh and Kathryn Marsh of Texas, Luke Donhoff of Florida, Maryssa Piper and husband Lucas of Maryland. He was great-great uncle of Christopher Piper of Maryland.

A private service was held by the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Markwood Funeral Home, Keyser, WV.
