Obituary for Logan Hurley Hale Mr. Logan Hurley Hale, age 91, of Council, Virginia passed away Thursday (January 31, 2019) at his home. Born April 3, 1927 in Council, Virginia, he was a son of the late James Ira and Electa Arla Compton Hale. His parents raised him and his brothers and sisters on a farm on the north side of Big “A” Mountain near council.
A lifelong resident of the area, he was a 1945 graduate of Council High School and member of Corinth Baptist Church. He proudly served his country in the United States Army, having been stationed in Germany during World War II. He was a self-employed carpenter and farmer.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Compton Hale; one son, Jonathan Logan Hale; three brothers, Carl Hale, Curtis Hale and Lowell Hale and one sister, Virginia Hale. Survivors include special friend, Inell Turner; three sons, James Michael Hale and wife, Gloria, John David Hale and Lloyd Malcolm Hale all of Council, Virginia; one daughter, Mary Elizabeth Wingold and husband, John “Jay” of Taylors, South Carolina; five grandchildren, Jeremy Michael Hale, Jocelyn Megan Musick and husband, Bryan, Amanda Dawn Godbey and husband, Jared, Joshua Garrett Wingold and Evan Alexander Wingold; seven great-grandchildren, Hayley, Emily and Bryley Musick, Ryan, Jackson, Benjamin and Leah Godbey; one brother, Harold Hale; two sisters, Geneva Mullins and Ilene Wolfe and several special brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 PM Sunday in the Honaker Funeral Home Chapel with Rev.
Carl Burmeier officiating Interment will follow in the Hale Family Cemetery at Council, Virginia. Military Graveside Honors will be conducted by American Veteran’s Honor Guard. Nephews and Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the SWVA Fox Hunter’s Association, Woodrow Presley and Ernest Deel. The family will receive friends at the Honaker Funeral Home after 1 PM Sunday until the funeral hour. Online condolences may be made at www.
