Obituary Service Details Lois E. Mayo, nee King, age 90, of Fairmont City, IL, born on May 9, 1927 in Hickman, KY, died on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, IL. Lois was a homemaker. She volunteered at the Collinsville Library and the Collinsville Museum.

Lois was a member of the “Dandy Dancers” square dance club. She sewed her entire life, mainly for her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, playing games, especially cards.

Her life was full with family and friends. Lois was always caring for others, and gave unconditional love to everyone. She was truly the leader of the family, caring for everyone her entire life.

Her family is her legacy. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Adam Mayo; her daughter, Cynthia Mayo; her parents, Robert E. and Addie B. King, nee Chumbley; and her sisters, Marie Woods and Alice Pappas. Lois is survived by her children, Linda (Russell) Miller of Edwardsville, IL, John Mayo, Jr. of Fairmont City, IL and Brenda (Kevin) Boyer of Collinsville, IL; her grandchildren, Jennifer Whittaker, Michael Miller, Gregory Boyer, Justin Mayo, Brooke McClure, Cynthia Collins and John P. Mayo; 15 great grandchildren, Jesse, Kyle, Alyssa, Michal, Miranda, Zachary, Jackson, Maleah, Sean, Owen, Johnny, James, Thorton, Ashley, and Michael; 2 great-great grandchildren, Oliver and Nova, and her siblings, Edna Havlen of Anna, IL, Julian “Bud” King of Granite City, IL, Floyd King of O’Fallon, IL and Roger (Margaret) King of Granite City, IL.

Lois is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends. Memorials may be made to the Collinsville Historical Museum or the Fairmont City Senior Citizens. There will be no visitation.

Graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at 2:15 p.m. at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, MO. Family and friends may meet prior to service behind the Administrative Building. Following the ceremony a Memorial will be held at 3:30pm at the Fairmont City Senior Citizens Hall at 4001 Cookson Rd, Fairmont City, IL.
