Lois Elaine Maxwell, 78, of Bangor, passed away Monday, December 17, 2018 at the Rose Arbor Hospice Center in Kalamazoo. She was born December 7, 1940 to Leo and Elaine (Hawks) Kohlhoff in St. Joseph, Michigan. Lois married Frank “Larry” Maxwell in South Haven.

They shared 18 years in marriage before his passing in 2011. Lois worked as a secretary at Add Construction, Clark-Ross Insurance, and South Haven Insurance Agency before her eventual retirement. She loved gardening and tending her plants.

She loved boing in nature and spent much of her time outdoors. She also enjoyed sewing. She was a member of the Pen Dragons Calligraphy Guild and created many beautiful cards for her children and grandchildren.

She is preceded in death along with her parents and husband by a daughter – Cindy Maxwell, and sister– Donna Jarvis. Lois is survived by her children – Eunice Durand of Holland, Terry Durand of South Haven, and Tim (Brenda) Durand of Pullman, Bob Maxwell of Kalamazoo, Ken (Kathy) Maxwell of South Haven, Kurt (Stacy) Maxwell of South Haven, and Lynnsy (Betsy) Maxwell of Lawton, sisters – Joyce (John) Watts of Allegan and Jean Renzelman of Wallsenberg, CO, and brother – Robert Kohlhoff of Kentucky. Ten grandchildren also survive.

Private family services will be held. Lois will be laid to rest at Monk Cemetery in Geneva Township.
