Lois M. Hovis, 92, of Elmore, OH died Sunday, April 22, 2018 under hospice care at the Genoa Care Center, Genoa, OH. She was born September 13, 1925 in Elmore, OH to the late J. Kirk and Donna (Stange) Luckey. She was a 1943 graduate of Harris-Elmore High School, and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Bowling Green State University.

On December 20, 1945 she married John B. Hovis, who preceded her in death August 30, 2012. Lois retired from teaching having taught at Genoa Schools, Penta County School, and Vanguard School. She was a member of St. Paul-Trinity United Methodist Church, Elmore.

Lois was avid golfer who considered golf to be a four season game even in Elmore. She can boast a hole-in-one on 3 separate occasions. When she was not hitting the links, she loved to read about American and local history.

Survivors include her sons: John C. (Gloria) Hovis of Venice, FL, Jeffery K. (Chrysoula) Hovis of Waterloo, Ontario, and Jay A. (Calley) Hovis of Millbury, OH; sister Phyllis Miller of Elmore, OH; grandchildren: Jessica Cable, John D. Hovis, Anna Hovis, Alexia Hovis, and Ashley Tabbert; and great- grandchildren: Noah, Julia, and Aidan Cable. She was also preceded in death by her brother John Luckey. Visitation will be Wednesday from 2-8pm at the Crosser Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Elmore-Genoa Chapel.

Funeral Services will begin at 11am Thursday, April 26, 2018 at the funeral home with Pastor Rob Rakay officiating. Burial will be in Harris- Elmore Union Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Harris-Elmore Fire Department or the Elmore Historical Society.
