Lola Sutton Our dear mother, Florence Lola Green Sutton passed away surrounded by family on November 27, 2018 at the age of 90. Lola was born in Grantsville on August 2, 1928 to Edward Horman Green and Florence Willridge Johnson. She was the fifth child of 9 born to the Green family.

Her brothers Bill and Keith and sisters Leah, Marzine, Arva and Selma preceded her in death. Lola was a graduate of Grantsville High School and lived her life in Grantsville. She married Claude Sutton Jr. on August 19, 1949 in the Salt Lake Temple.

They had 3 children: Jan, Brad and Gina. Lola was very talented and had many interests. She was accomplished in oil painting, cooking and writing.

She was a loyal member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers and also served in various capacities for the Grantsville Opera House Memorial Theatre for approximately 10 years. Lola was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She served in many callings including Relief Society, Primary, MIA and the Choir.

She also served for years in the Spanish extraction program. Her greatest joy was serving others. Everyone in her family was touched by her compassion.

She truly was a selfless loving daughter of God. A special thanks to the caring staff at Diamond Jane’s where Miss Lola resided for the last year. Survived by her children; Jan (Marvin) Shafer; Bradley Mark (Heather) and Gina Kay (Craig) Miller.

She is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, a brother: Terry Green and a sister: Gloria (Jim) Ostler. She was preceded in death by Claude Sutton her husband of 68 years. Her parents, two brothers and four sisters.

A viewing will be held for Lola at the 12th Ward Meeting House at 428 South Hale Street, Grantsville on Sunday, December 2, from 6-8 PM. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the funeral services which will be at 12 Noon on Monday, December 3. Burial will follow in the Grantsville City Cemetery.
