Lorenzo Irby, 67, Battle Creek, MI and formerly of Sandusky, passed away Thursday, February 7, 2017 at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He was born May 11, 1951, in Meridian, Mississippi to Baimon and Bertha (Clark) Irby. Lorenzo received his education from Meridian High School and later graduated Job Corps.
Over the years, he was employed by Benke Manufacturing, Community Action Agency, American Quality Stripping and the Housing Commission. In 1970, Lorenzo moved to Battle Creek, Michigan where he met and married Margie Irby (Wright). Lorenzo loved to spend time with his family and friends playing cards, chess, and dominoes.
He enjoyed going fishing, watching westerns and his favorite football team was the Green Bay Packers. He leaves to cherish his memory; his wife, Margie Irby of Battle Creek, MI, son, Keith (Lovette) Wright Sr. of Battle Creek, MI, daughter, Olivetta Peanut Wright of Wyoming, MI; grandchildren, DarKeisha Wright, Keith Wright Jr., Geonca Rolle’, Asha Wright, George Rolle’ II, Arthur Gray Jr., Sasha Williams, Randall Gray Sr., and Brandon Gray; his brothers, James (Darlene) Irby, Henry (Stacy) Irby, Steve (Renee) Irby, Johnny (Laverne) Irby all of Battle Creek, MI, Cecil (Jennifer) Irby of Rochester, NY, Terry (Jeanette) Irby, Donald Irby, Arthur Irby of Sandusky, OH; Danny Irby of Prairie View, TX, and two sisters, Evelyn and Michelle Irby both of Sandusky, OH; sixteen great-grandchildren; aunts, uncles and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Lorenzo was preceded in death by his parents, Baimon and Bertha Irby, and his brother, Bobby Irby.
Friends may call on Saturday, February 16, 2019, from 11 A.M. until time of funeral services at 12 P.M. Noon in Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave. , Sandusky. Burial will take place in Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky.
