Obituary for Lory F. Goggans FORT WORTH – Lory Friedman Goggans, 93, passed away peacefully Friday morning June 29, 2018. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, consideration of contributions to ASPCA, Planned Parenthood, or the Ronald McDonald House are suggested. Lory Friedman was born Oct.

19, 1924, the daughter of Harry and Mamie Friedman. She met Stan Schiller while attending Stephens College in Missouri, and he at Annapolis. Later, she attended both the Eastman School of Music and the Eastman School of Photography, as well as The Rochester Institute of Technology.

She and Stan married in 1947 and settled in Fort Worth, raising four sons. In 1972, Lory was re-married to Dr. Albert Goggans, remaining together until his death in 2007. Lory – herself an artist and photographer – was an ardent friend and champion of the arts in Fort Worth.

Among her many accomplishments were starting and for years operating The Gallery in the Square, devoted to displaying and celebrating the “Fort Worth Circle”, a group of early and influential Fort Worth artists. Lory was the first photographer for the Texas Boys’ Choir, and she and Al Goggans were instrumental in the founding and early direction of Trinity Valley School, itself an outgrowth of the Texas Boys’ Choir. A fine and prolific photographer, Lory’s skills, especially in portraiture, were unsurpassed; her work hangs on many walls.

Lory’s love and knowledge of music included her lifelong devotion to the Van Cliburn Competition. She was also a founder of the Ronald McDonald House in Fort Worth, among other civic and charitable endeavors. Survivors: Sons, Jay Schiller and family of La Jolla, Calif, Harry Schiller of Jomtien, Thailand, Dan Schiller and family of West Milford, NJ, and Stan Schiller and family of Kauai, HI; step-son, Dr. Rick Goggans and family of Camden, ME; step-daughter, Margie “Tinker” Goggans and family of Plano, Texas, many nieces, nephews grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter, Ellie.
