Mr. Louis Joseph Prudhomme Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, February 16, 2019 at Williams Funeral Home Chapel in Opelousas, LA, for Mr. Louis Joseph Prudhomme, 90, who entered eternal rest, Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at his residence in Houston, TX. Interment will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Washington, LA. Rev.
S. C. Jones will officiate the services. Louis Joseph “LJ” Prudhomme was born on October 28, 1928 in Washington, Louisiana to the union of the late Gus and Lizzie Lawson Prudhomme. L.J. was calledfrom labor to reward on Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at home in Houston, Texas.
He crossed over into a new life, with a new beginning, where all tears and sorrows are passed away. Although we may not understand why, and find it hard to accept, we should rejoice with him and thank our Heavenly Father for the life he lived among us. As a child, he accepted Christ as his personal savior.
He was baptized at the Emma Zion Baptist Church in Washington, Louisiana, the church that his grandparents, Henry and Sallie Barnes Lawson, helped found. He received his elementary and high school education in St. Landry Parish at WashingtonHigh School, Washington, Louisiana. He then moved to Houston, Texas where he owned and operated a night club until retired.
He was a “family oriented” soul and always surrounded by friends. L.J. was preceded in death by his parents, Gus and Lizzie Prudhomme; brothers, Bay Prudhomme, Albert Prudhomme, Henry Prudhomme, Isaiah Prudhomme, Sr., Bob Burly Prudhomme; sisters, Mamie Bell Prudhomme Alexander, Thelma Lee Prudhomme Jackson;maternal grandparents, Henry and Sallie Lawson. L.J. leaves to cherish his precious memories: two sons, Chris Thomas and Louis Prudhomme both of Houston, TX; six nephews, Isiah Prudhomme, Jr. and Michael Prudhomme of Houston, TX, Gus Prudhomme, Ronald Prudhomme and Anthony Prudhomme of Beaumont, TX, Oliver Alexander of Baton Rouge, LA; three nieces, Barbara Joubert of Alexandria, LA, Joyce Prudhomme Haynes of Opelousas, LA, Wanda Williams of Houston, TX; a stepson, Albert “Kojac” O’Neal, Sr. of Atlanta, GA; three step-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
