Louise’s Obituary Mary Louise Newton, age 88 of Holy Cross, passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2019 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born November 2, 1930 in Holy Cross. She was a former employee of the old Federal Hill Nursing Home and a lifelong member of Holy Cross Church.

She enjoyed watching sports, especially golf and UK basketball and was very generous to a variety of charities. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Newton (2011); two daughters, Ann Sharon Bartley and Brenda Sorrell; her mother, Mary Viola Ballard Lyvers Cecil; her father, James Albert Lyvers; four sisters, Gondola Kilner, Louise Lyvers, Leona Lyvers and Catherine Medley; one brother, Ballard Lyvers; her stepfather, Joseph Jesse Cecil, Sr; one stepsister, Dorothy Barnes and one stepbrother, Joseph Jesse “Junior” Cecil. Survivors include two daughters, Jo Ann Clark (Randy) and Donna Sue Hensley (Danny) all of Bardstown; three sons, Chris Newton (Donna) and Lawrence Newton all of Holy Cross and Mike Newton of Trigg County; 12 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren; three sisters, Rose Alice Head (Bill) of Naples, Florida, Norma Jean Wood of Shepherdsville and Shirley Miles of Bardstown; one brother, Hudie Lyvers (Edna Mae) of Louisville; three step-sisters, Elizabeth Dennis of Mount Washington, Myrtle Denbo of Florida and Helen Hodge of Indiana.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM Saturday, February 2, 2019 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 59 New Haven Road, Loretto. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Rev.

Bryan T. Lamberson will preside. Visitation is 3-8 PM Friday at Mattingly Funeral Home, 195 Holy Cross Road, Loretto with a prayer service at 7 PM by Rev. Deacon Joseph R. Dant.

Pallbearers are Todd Clark, Dillon Newton, Wesley Curtsinger, Chris Chesser, Jeremy Bartley and Brian Sorrell.
